Cooperation with the World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM) for genome sequencing of type strains
Recently, genome sequences have been used for proposals of novel bacterial and archaeal taxa. International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology (IJSEM) also requests genome sequences of type strains for proposals of novel prokaryotic taxa. For authors who cannot afford genome sequencing, World Federation for Culture Collection (WFCC) and World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM) initiated the international project to sequence and annotate type strains for free. The project requests the authors to deposit the type strains to one of the culture collections that is cooperating with the WDCM for the sequencing. NBRC participates and cooperates the project.
