1. Press release
- Release date:
- January 26, 2012
- Title:
- Prevention of accidents involving heating appliances.
- Publisher:
- Product Safety Technology Center
- Summary:
- The accidents that were presumably caused by kerosene heaters and were reported to the NITE Product Safety Technology Center are demonstrating an upward trend that exceeds the previous fiscal year, with some involving serious damage. This is probably related to an increase in the demand for kerosene heaters due to energy-saving trends that arose after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The causes include improper handling of the fuel cartridge and accidental feeding of petrol, which could be prevented if the products are used properly and safely.
We urge you to take note of the accidents again as the use of heating appliances is expected to increase in the severe cold climate. - Press briefing paper in Japanese
