Australian Embassy and Australian Government's Department of Industry, Science and Resources Delegation visited NLAB

On Wednesday, 24 September 2025, a delegation of 3 members, led by Mr. Douglas Sasaki, Research Officer at the Australian Embassy Tokyo, and Ms. Dijana Mirkovic, Manager of the Battery Policy and Program Implementation at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, visited NLAB^※1 at the NITE Osaka Office.

The Australian Government is working to transform its energy systems in line with the National Battery Strategy, which aims to expand the battery industry by leveraging the country's strengths in abundant mineral resources such as lithium and cobalt. The delegation received an overview of NITE, an introduction to NLAB's activities related to the testing and evaluation of large storage battery systems and EV battery safety, followed by on-site tour of NLAB facilities.

Furthermore, through experiencing the exhibition demonstrating "circulation by microorganisms" installed within the NITE Osaka Office, the delegation was informed about NITE's role in overseeing the production of the Japan Pavilion exhibition content for the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai which opened on April 13, 2025.

Numerous questions were raised during the tour, indicating the high level of interest shown by all participants. We hope this visit will contribute to the development of the battery and energy storage industries in both countries.
